Portfolio

Have a look at our latest works. Many of them are trash-to-treasure transformations. Maybe one of them will become an inspiration for you to restore or re-design your old furniture.

Patchwork Armchair

I got a photo of this chair standing next to a trash bin. A complete stranger sent me a photo with location thinking I might be interested. I was. I know these chairs and I appreciate their sturdy construction, spring suspension, comfortable seat, so I went to pick it up.

It spent some time at the workshop, until I decided that I want it bright and cheerful. Here it is!

Refurbished sideboard

I always go through a dilemma: to paint, or not to paint. My rule of thumb is – don’t paint wood. The same goes for veneered furniture if the veneer is beautiful and not damaged.

This was not the case of this sideboard. The veneer was on the cheap side and had nothing appealing in it. What caught my attention however were these nice key hole covers.

Chair with a Disability

It was standing next to a trash bin. A wreck of an armchair with three and a half legs. Obviously, I took it although I had no idea if I will be able to make it nice and useful again.

It sat at the workshop for a couple of months before I finally decided that having three and a half leg is its history and I want to keep it.

That’s why instead of changing the whole broken leg I simply made a “prosthetic” and painted it navy blue. It makes it special!

Antique Cupboard

What do you do when your friend needs a cupboard and she’s getting married? You make a cupboard as a wedding gift!

When I first saw it it was dark cherry-brown color, had no shelves and a mirror instead of glass, its  door was strangely hanging held by a nail and it was generally close to falling apart. Why then?

Usually every piece of furniture I decide to bring back to life has something that attracts me. In this case it was the crown. I liked it so much that was ready to go through taking all this thing apart and putting it back together. I think it was worth it!

Armchair

It was my first armchair with fabric-covered sides. when taking this job I was a bit afraid that something may go wrong – the cover will be too big, too small, crooked in some strange way… None of these happened and the chair went back to its owner in its new, perfect outfit.

Vintage Kitchen Cupboard

I went to buy an old closet. The closet was in pretty good shape and I decided to take it. On my way out of the apartment I saw an old kitchen cupboard. Nothing special, plus really dirty, but somehow I liked its simplicity. “Are you selling this one too?” “Yes”.

Both the closet and the cupboard landed at the workshop. This cupboard took a lot of time and effort to make it look the way it does now, but it is so nice and cheerful now that I don’t regret it.

Green Armchair

Green Armchair

This big armchair was a find, but not a totally free one. We had to carry it down from the sixth floor, as it was not fitting in the elevator 🙂

Fixing it was challenging. Most of the springs were broken and we had to find a replacement and create the whole new spring unit. The new sides were made out of chestnut instead of plywood and fabric they were made of originally. It took some time and effort, but it is now a very comfortable armchair.

Art Nouveau Stand

Art Nouveau is probably one of my favorite styles. I love the symmetry, geometric patterns, curves and flower motifs. I would never dare to paint it if the veneer wasn’t damaged as much as it was. I really love wood and I paint wooden furniture only if they cannot be restored.

Supra Table

Georgian supra table is probably the most common table I meet here in old furniture shops. I myself restored at least three of them.

This one was bought together with some other furniture from a house for demolition. It was so dirty that one couldn’t see its color and some of the veneer was missing, but otherwise it was in good shape.

Several days in our furniture healing center, some a lot of cleanig, sanding and glueing and it’s a perfect fit for a living room.

Re-designed 60s' Armchair

Another inhabitant of the demolition house. There were two of them – both equally ugly and falling apart. You would never say seeing them now standing proudly in my friends’ living room.
